Most of what he said in his suicide note, as you call it, happens to be true. That can't forgive what he did, or make its political consequences any less harmful. The worst thing about it was his choice of targets. It was indiscriminate--all he knew was that they were apparently Jewish. He didn't know them, he didn't know what their politics were, or how they felt about the genocide in Gaza. Even "propaganda of the deed" (a concept I dislike) gives him too much credit.
“Second, we do not support his killings, however he wants to frame them.” Geez, that’s pretty weak. How about it was wrong and destructive. How about bring the war home and global intifada are directly related to this insanity!
“Our entire movement for an immediate ceasefire and a release of aid in Gaza, along with respect for Palestinians and their right to self-determination, is being smeared as anti-Semitic.”
Geez, again, you can’t even manage to say return the hostages, and there needs to be peaceful coexistence between Israeli Jews between the river and the sea.
Not sure how I got on your list. But having spent a lifetime thinking I was a leftist I am not sure that remains true if you’re my comrade.
Lawrence, I'm assuming you meant to say Israeli Jews and Palestinians, and I hope this wasn't a Freudian slip on your part. Do you think the Israeli government gives a shit about the hostages? Are you aware that it members of Netanyahu's cabinet have embraced the phrase "from the river to the sea" to describe their war objectives? They aren't talking about freedom, they're talking about the expulsion of Palestinians from "greater Israel." I'd love to see "peaceful coexistence" between Israelis and Palestinians (I have family over there), but it can only happen on the basis of true equality and full economic and legal rights for all concerned. In the meantime, thousands of children in Gaza are on the brink of starvation.
Lawrence, hi, glad to see you on Carl Davidson's mail list. We 'leftists' have enjoyed over the last 40 years great privileges we could not even dream about coming about. Carl is right on the spot! Less talk, more real strategy and tactics, not some daydream. We 'leftists' need to start giving back what we gained off the backs of less privileged people who fought with their lives, not their mouths. Please respect the people doing the work 'on the ground'. And by the way, I do not know how you 'wound up' on Carl's list, but trust me, it was the luckiest day of your life.
Of course. But those assertions don't help much on their own. It's far better to elaborate on a strategy and tactics for a more important matter: ' What do we do next?' That's the point.
A coup. Like what took place in Portugal in 2014? ( the Carnation revolt). The military over thru the fascist government and within 2 years Portugal was a democratically run system. Our Generals should do the same here. Overthru our current fascist authoritarian government and return our Constitutionally formed government back to the rule of law and fealty to the Constitution and its people not fealty to fascism.
You beg a few questions. If the military makes a coup, who then is in power? Steve Bannon? Bernie and AOC? Be careful what you wish for. The longer path may be shorter.
It worked for the Portugese. It's worth giving it a go here. The Millitary removes current fascist regime. Restores the rule of law. We ghave new primaries than vote. And 3rd parties should not be handicapped in any way.
YE of little faith in trusting our Generals. Think Ike.
Look to see what happened in Iran in 1978. Look at Greece, Brazil, and others; your strategy did not work out well. 'Our' Generals have a checkered history. Although they are more pragmatic than our politicians, they have their own
agenda. It primarily revolves around how many federal contracts are distributed to the Pentagon and their 'friends' (the subcontractors). Remember, 'snakes never commit suicide. '

I'm one who thinks, at times, understatement is more powerful. Something I learned from Albert Camus.

Trump MUST be stopped.
The Democrats MUST stop perpetuating this genocide.
We Must get our civil rights back and we MUST get the House of Congress back on a democratic "for the people" tract.
**We MUST**

*Oppose Oppression*
I would be careful about 'our generals.' They can be helpful, up to a point. Power taken by a coup can be retaken by another coup of unknown politics.
Wr can't wait 4 years while Trump and company turn America into a fascist state. I trust our military leaders to do the right thing...NOW.
REMOVE THIS FASCIST FROM POWER
